Abstract
This is a discussion of various issues involved in differentiation arithmetic. The use in both point and interval algorithms is discussed. Differentiation arithmetic is implemented using the recursion relations for Taylor coefficients, or by using a parser to create a Fortran subroutine which evaluates the derivatives using differentiation arithmetic. Applications to quadrature and to Taylor series solutions of ordinary differential equations is discussed.
